Mobile court convicts 30 for traffic offences in Ekiti

A mobile court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday convicted 30 motorists for various road traffic offences.

The offenders were apprehended by officials of the Ekiti Sector Command of the FRSC during a special exercise on some roads in the state.

Records made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the special court session indicated that 30 offenders were convicted while four others were cautioned and discharged.

The convicts were, however, given option of fines before their impounded vehicles were released to them.

According to the records, the most common traffic offences were seat belt use violation and riding motorcycle without crash helmet.

The presiding magistrate, Olusola Ademilua, who counseled the offenders, also advised intending applicants for Driver’s Licence to go through authorised channels.
