MMIA Police nabs man with fake Euro notes

A 45-year-old man, identified as Lawrence Agbe, has been arrested by officers attached the Airport Police Command, in Lagos over the possession of 1.25 million fake Euros. He was nabbed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police incharge of the Airport Command, Mr. Fredrick Lakanu, in Lagos on Monday.

According to Lakanu, the suspect, who resides at No.5, Itogbe Street, Orile-Agege area of the State was nabbed on June 25 at about 6.00 p.m.

“In the course of investigation, a search warrant was executed by a team of police detectives from Domestic Airport Division at the suspect’s printing press in Agege, Lagos, where over 2,000 police statement forms were recovered.

“On further interrogation, the suspect mentioned one Steve residing in Abuja now at large, as the owner of the said Euro,’’ Lakanu averred.

He stated that Agbe has been arraigned in court.

The Command’s commissioner noted that no fewer than 30 motorcycles were recently confiscated while 35 airport touts were rounded up and have been arraigned for unlawful entry and touting.

According to Lakanu, the arrests are indications that the airports had been secured to guarantee the safety of passengers, airport community and airline operators.

He called on the public to assist the police to checkmate the activities of miscreants around the airports.
