Medical doctor, two others in police net for child trafficking

Nemesis has finally caught up with a medical doctor and 2 others in Aba for a dishonourable and debasing act of child trafficking.

The three evil doers are presently cooling their feet in the custody of the State’s police command. Investigations revealed that the medical doctor and the other two suspects, Nzekwe and Ogechi are based in Abayi, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State where they were arrested following the disappearance of a baby boy delivered at the doctor’s hospital.

A reliable source from the police narrated to news men how it all happened. According to him, one Mrs. Peace Pius, a traveling pregnant trader of 63, Rivers Road, Warri, Delta State, was abducted while traveling to Aba, drugged and kept in the custody of other two suspects.

When the she was due to deliver, they took her to the doctor’s hospital where a successful caesarean operation was performed on her and her baby removed. Few days later, the new mother regained consciousness in the hospital and asked for her baby but she was told by the doctor that the baby died shortly after she gave birth to him. Still so full of doubt on the death of her baby as she was told by the Doctor, Peace went to some of the nurses who were around when she was delivered of the baby but were oblivious of the deception of the doctor and they simply confided in her that the baby was alive and healthy. Subsequently, the apparently embittered Peace reported the matter to the police and in a swift operation by a team of crack detectives led by Anari Anari, which resulted to the arrest of the medical doctor and the other two suspects.

However, during interrogation, it was discovered that Peace was hypnotised before being taken to the hospital where she was successfully delivered of a baby boy but the suspects sold the boy to a woman when the mother was still lying unconsciously in the hospital bed. In confirmation to the sad incidence that roped-in a certified medical doctor, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Command, Onyeke Ezekiel, said the three suspects in their custody had led them to the abode of the woman who bought the baby but unfortunately she was on the run. Ezekiel thereby appealed to the public to assist the police with any meaningful information they have that could lead to the arrest of the run-away baby buyer.
