The Ogun High Court 6 at Isabo in Abeokuta on Wednesday remanded in prison a 33-year-old man, Jimoh Owolabi, for allegedly killing his neighbour’s daughter.

The state counsel, Funke Fakolade, told the court that the killing was allegedly carried out on May 2, 2013 at Sagbesona Compound, Idofoi, Ayetoro Road in Abeokuta.

She said the accused conspired with one Akeem (now at large) and was facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

Fakolade explained that the accused and his accomplice abducted his neighbour’s seven-year-old daughter, Timilehin Abiona, killed her and cut her head off.

“Owolabi killed the little girl in his room and took her body to the forest to cut off her head.

“The accused and his accomplice were stopped by the policemen on duty along Odo-Irori for a search and were consequently caught with the head of the girl in a polythene bag,” she said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 324 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Laws, (Cap 29) Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The court refused to take the plea of Owolabi, as presented by his counsel, Mariam Lawal.

Justice Hezekiah Solanke remanded the accused in the Oba prison in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

Solanke adjourned the case till Oct. 15, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).(NAN)
