Man remanded in prison for allegedly kidnapping his uncle

A 38-year-old businessman, Tony Anene, was on Friday remanded in Ikoyi Prisons, by a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court Lagos, for allegedly kidnapping his uncle.

The accused person, who operates a lottery business at No. 20, Titilayo Adedoyin Streets, Omole Estate, Phase I, Ikeja, was docked on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping.

The prosecutor, Mr. Peter Okerimodu told the court that the accused was arrested on April 12, at Mowe on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in connection with the kidnapping of Mr Dominic Nwaezeapu, his uncle.

According to him: “Nwaezeapu was lured out of his house to meet a kinsman, where he was abducted by the accused and others who are still at large.’’

Although the plea of the accused was not taken, Okerimodu of the State Security Service,SSS, presented a remand notice to the court. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, ordered that the accused should be kept behind bars, pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions. The case was adjourned to May 27.
