Man Remanded for Raping a Mad Woman

A 22 year old water vendor who goes by the name, Ahmed Manu, of Tudun Wada quarters, Gombe, was remanded in prison  on Thursday for allegedly raping a 26-year-old mentally derailed  woman.

The Chief Judge of the court, Mallam Mohammed Usman gave the order immediately the accused, Ahmed pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

The traditional herbalist who took the case to court, Mallam Mohammed Hassan, told the court that the accused person had on February 24, devoured one of his patients who was being treated of mental illness.

He said the accused person upon supplying water to his home during the dry season had capitalized on the opportunity and raped one of the mad women in his house.

After the first hearing, the case was adjourned to March 8, for further mention while the accused person was to be remanded in prison custody until  the second hearing comes up,.
