There was confusion in Amanato community in Onicha, Igboeze area of Ebonyi State during the weekend following the gruesome murder of a middle aged man.
Residents of the community were shocked when they found the headless body of one of their sons dumped along the road.
It was gathered that the deceased was beheaded at night when he was returning home from a popular drinking joint.
According to residents, the incident was not unconnected with an irreconcilable differences between the deceased and his assailant whose name was given as Ogo Nwaji over the debt of N200.
It was learnt that the suspect allegedly confronted the deceased where they were drinking a local gin and requested that the deceased pay him the N200 debt he was owing him but the deceased according to an eyewitness claimed he was not owing him (Nwaji) any money.
Argument erupted in the process, which led to exchange of abusive words between the duo.
According to eyewitnesses, Nwaji who left the scene angrily, got to his residence, brought out a sharp cutlass and laid ambush on his victim at night and cut off his head as he was returning from a drinking joint.
The suspect was subsequently alerted and handed over to the police for necessary action.
