A 22- year- old trader, Samson Amaechi, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly pouring acid on one Chukwuemeka Okorie.
Amaechi, a resident of No. 9, Herbert Macaulay Way, Ebute Meta, Lagos, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on unlawful attempt to kill and unlawfully causing grievous harm.
While testifying before the court, the Prosecutor, Feddy Asu said Amaechi committed the offences on March 27.
According to Asu, Ameachi in quest for vengeance poured acid on the private part, chest, and back of Okorie.
Asu noted that the suspect who was accommodating Amaechi in both his house and shop, accused the victim of not taking up some responsibility in the house.
“A fight had ensued between the duo and neighbours living around them had mediated.
He said, “However, the accused was still nursing some grudges against his host and then decided to bath him with acid in the early hours of March 27. ‘’
The prosecutor stated before the court that the offences were contrary to Sections 228 and 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The magistrate, Mr E.O. Ogunkanmi, consequently granted Amaechi bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.
Ogunkanmi however adjourned the matter till Sept. 9.
