Man,35, remanded over rape of 9-year-old schoolgirl

An Ibadan High Court on Tuesday remanded a 35-year-old man, Segun Majeed, in prison over alleged rape.

The prosecutor, Mrs Olumide Ojo, told the court that the defendant allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl on May 29, 2012, at the Army Barracks Primary School, Iwo road, Ibadan.

She told the court that she had yet to respond to the application filed by the defence counsel, Mr Olaniji Olabinjo.

Ojo said that she had just been served, adding that the court should give her time to respond to the application.

Justice Mashud Abas ordered that the defendant be taken back to prison and adjourned the case to Thursday for hearing. (NAN)
