Man, 30, docked in Osun for alleged dangerous driving

A 30-year-old-man, Busari Akeem, on Tuesday appeared before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged dangerous driving.

Akeem is facing four count charges of dangerous driving, murder, and malicious damage.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Oladoye Joshua, told the court that the accused committed the offense on Jan. 8 at about 10:00pm at Kabelo Filling Station area, Osogbo.

Joshua said Akeem drove a Toyota Corrolla with registration number AAA 815 EM, in a dangerous manner, which led to the death of one Ibrahim Abdullahi (30).

He said the incident led to the damage of one unregistered Honda motorcycle belonging to the deceased.

He said the offense contravened sections 18(1), 27, and 7(1) of the RTA Cap 113 Vol. 5,6 laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the four count charges.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Femi Atofarati, prayed the Magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in the like sum.

Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with evidence of tax payments and two passport sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned to Feb.7 for mention.
