The Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested about 40 persons from ‘black spots’ in the state.
According to reports, the suspects who ranged from ages 17 to 50 were said to be hemp smokers, robbers, and miscreants roaming the Oshodi, Jibowu, Mile 2, Ajegunle and Ijora areas, among others.
The RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu said the exercise was an onslaught against the criminally-minded people to ensure a safe environment for residents and visitors in the state.
Disu also noted that the arrest would continue until the areas were entirely free from activities of criminals.
According to him, “We are ready to calm the latest upsurge in crime in the state.
“The arrest will be continuous, as the government is determined to rid the state of criminals and create an enabling environment for residents and business owners.
“The governor has given us an order to comb the black spots. We were able to arrest 40 suspects during a raid on suspected hideouts in Oshodi, Jibowu, Victoria Island and Mile 2, among others,” the Commander added.
