A 55-year-old plank seller, Musibau Olabanji, was on Tuesday charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over a N500, 000 fraud.
Olabanji, who resides at Mobile road in Ajah area of Lagos State, is facing a charge of fraud.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ingobo Emby told the court that the accused committed the offence in September 2014 at Itedo area of Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
He said the accused fraudulently obtained N500, 000 from his customer, Mr Ekeka Lucky, under the guise of supplying planks for roofing.
The offence, he noted, contravened Section 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 312 provides a 15-year imprisonment for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offence.
The Magistrate, Mr P. A. Adekumaiya, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said one of the sureties must be a family member of the accused and also show evidence of gainful employment and tax payment to the government.
The case has been adjourned to Jan. 11, 2016 for mention. (NAN)
