Kidnappers free 105-year-old mother of Sylva’s running mate

Madam Ebifieghe Igiri, 105, mother of Wilberforce Igiri, running mate of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Timipre Sylva, in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa State, has regained freedom from kidnappers.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Bayelsa State, ASP Asinim Butswat, told newsmen in Yenagoa that the woman was released by her captors on November 9 at about 10pm.

Butswat said: “She was released at Ayama Waterside, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

“She is hale and hearty and has since been reunited with her family.

“Efforts have been intensified to arrest the abductors. Investigation is ongoing.”

NAN recalls that Igiri was kidnapped from her hometown, Foropa in Southern-Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on October 29.
