There’s currently palpable fear among management and staff of Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri, following the reported abduction of the institution’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, Nze Ralph Njoku-Obi, last Sunday.

It was gathered that some heavily armed gunmen stormed his private residence in Owalla, Uratta, Owerri North local Council area of the state and whisked him away.

Vanguard reports that the kidnappers struck at about 2am, shot sporadically to scare people away from the scene, before whisking their hapless victim away to an unknown destination.

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said he was yet to get the report.

“The report of the incident has not been brought to my knowledge.

“Honestly, I am yet to get any such signal but I must tell you that the State Police Command is ever ready to protect life and property in the state”, the PPRO said.
