Gunmen kidnap PDP treasurer’s wife, son in Bayelsa

Unknown gunmen have abducted the wife and son of Gbalipre Turner, Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bayelsa State chapter.

Confirming the incident, the Bayelsa State Police Command on Friday said Mrs. Turner was whisked away alongside her son, few days after the abduction of 78-year-old father of the Bayelsa state Commissioner of Tourism.

According to the state police spokesperson, DSP Alex Akhigbe, Mrs. Turner and her son were kidnapped on Thursday at their family house in Opume, Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.

“I received information that the wife and son of the younger brother to King Turner were kidnapped yesterday by unidentified gunmen,” he said.

The police boss further disclosed that some police officers from the state Command had been deployed to the creeks to rescue her.

”The kidnappers have not made any contact with the family; we are waiting for such contact to be established so that we can follow them up,” he added.

The PDP chieftain is the younger brother of King Amalate Turner, the Obanema of Opume Kingdom.
