FRSC arrests 144 traffic offenders in Enugu

The Federal Road Safety Corps,FRSC, says 144 traffic offenders have been arrested in Enugu State within the last one week.

Mr. Mr Fumbiyi Olawoyin, the sector commander of the FRSC in the state, who disclosed this said that 136 motorists were arrested for light sign violation between June 9 and June 16. Olawoyin added that six other motorists were arrested for number plate violation during the Operation Rainstorm in the state.

He said that two persons were also arrested for dangerous driving during the period, adding that the exercise was in line with the 2013 strategic goals which, among other things, aims at reducing road traffic, crashes and improve service delivery.

The Commander said the exercise focused on road traffic violations, including light sign, dangerous driving, overloading, drivers’ license, over-speeding and number plates.

Olawoyin stressed that the corps was not interested in the fines being paid by defaulters, but was out to enthrone a good driving culture in the country.

He reminded motorists on the need to change their number plates and drivers’ license as the deadline for their enforcement is almost here.
