Ex-EBSU student shot dead, 3 others arrested over robbery

A former student of Ebonyi State University, EBSU, Abakaliki, Henry Chukwu, was over the weekend shot dead during an exchange of gunfire between his robbery gang and men of the Ebonyi State police command.

The incident, which happened when the gang allegedly attempted to rob staff and customers of Cabino Guest House, Abakaliki, also led to the arrest of three of the suspects.

At a press briefing in Abakaliki, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sylvester Igbo, disclosed that the gang of robbers on sighting a team of policemen on patrol, along Abraham Enyita off Ogoja road opened fire at them, resulting to a gun battle that led to the arrest of the suspects.

“During the gun duel, one Henry Chukwu popularly known as Drama, an ex-student of Ebonyi State University, sustained bullet wounds and later gave up the ghost while being taken to the hospital. In the process, three suspects, Ude Oko, Nwokporo William, Emeka Eseogor, were arrested”, he said. Igbo added that the body of the deceased suspect had been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki for autopsy.
