The Enugu State Police Command yesterday said it has launched manhunt for one Charles Oyibo for allegedly beating his wife to death.
Police spokesman in Enugu State, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST said the police had commenced detailed Investigation on the matter.
Amaraizu said the victim “identified as one Angela Oyibo, was beaten to death by the husband, also identified as one Charles Oyibo.”
He added that “the husband had on 30/9/15 at Aku town in Igbo-Etiti local Government Area of Enugu State beaten the wife over a yet to be established issue, which left her in a state of unconsciousness.”
He further stated that “She was later rushed to a nearby hospital by sympathizers.
“However, all efforts intensified to revive her could not yield positive fruit as she later died on 22/10/15.
“Meanwhile, the husband has taken to his heels just as operatives have intensified manhunt on the fleeing husband.
“According to further information received, the suspect is always in the habit of using the wife as punching bag.”
In another development, the police in Uwani Division of the State have nabbed an allehed notorious armed robbery/cultist, who has been terrorizing Uwani and its environs with his gang members.
Amaraizu said the suspect, identified as Christian Chukwugekwu Oduche of Ebony Paint Road Gariki, and a native of Amakpu Obinagu Uwani, Akpugo in Nkanu West local Government Area of Enugu State had allegedly on gun point attempted to rob a female victim of her bag, handset and wallet at Amokwe street Uwani Enugu before a distress call was raised.
He listed items recovered from the suspect to include a locally made single barrel pistol with a live cartridge.
