Edo native doctor, five others nabbed in a failed assassination attempt
Police officers from Zone 5 in Benin have arrested six persons, including a native doctor, in a failed assassination attempt on one Etinosa Ighodalo of lyowa in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Zonal Public Relations Officer of the Police, ASP Emeka Iheanacho, while parading the suspects before newsmen, said the suspects were apprehended following a tip-off from members of the public.
Iheanacho said: “The assassination attempt was due to power tussle over local politics of who becomes the chairman of Iyowa.”
The Zonal police spokesperson further noted that operatives from the Zone recovered a list from the shrine containing the name of the would-be victim and nine others marked for murder.
However the native doctor denied the claims, stressing that the list of names recovered were drawn to ensure peace within the community, adding that the suspects gave him the list of persons to be dealt with, but he refused.
