The suspected abductors of an uncle to President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Nitabai Inengite, from his Otuoke country home in Bayelsa state few months back have been arrested and paraded. The suspects, numbering six were paraded by the Department of State Services, DSS, on Thursday.

Pa Inengite, 65, was reportedly whisked away on February 23, 2014, and held by his abductors for 17 days. He was allegedly released without any payment of ransom, on March 12, 2014.

The spokesperson of the service, Marilyn Ogar, who briefed journalists while parading the suspects, said the gang was busted after useful intelligence on their activities was provided by members of the public.

The suspects, Eldred Magnus Jonah, 30; Raphael Inengesi, 32; Ibeabuchi Inya, 29; Oreva Abridi, 29; Tammy Tamarapreye Agbai and a native doctor, Felix Onuoha were arrested in Bayelsa, Edo and Delta states. However, upon interrogation, they denied collecting any ransom from the victim’s family.

“Recall that on February 23, 2014, about 9pm, Nitabai Inengite, an uncle to President Goodluck Jonathan, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Otuoke Community, in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State.

“He was whisked away in an ash-coloured Honda Jeep to Onuegbu Waterside, from where he was transferred into a waiting speedboat and to the creek. He was held captive in two different locations; the creek of Bras, very close to the mouth of the Atlantic and Okigbene creeks,” Ogar said.
