The Lagos State Task Force has disclosed that a group of hoodlums attacked its operatives with petrol bomb at Iddo, in Ebute Meta Area of the state.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Taskforce, Olubukola Abey, he said the hoodlums attacked the law enforcement team with petrol bomb bottles and other dangerous weapons in a bid to prevent the team from raiding a criminal spot in the area.
Abbey revealed that eight policemen sustained various injuries such as fire burns, while one brigade officer of the Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.
The statement said the taskforce officers invaded the criminal black spot in the area at about 2.00am on Wednesday in line with the directive by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to rid the state of criminal activities.
Abbey stated that the insistence of the Task Force consequently led to the arrest of 159 suspects, with one English Pump Action gun, two locally made pistols, two expended cartridges and four unexpended cartridges recovered from them.
“They also impounded 125 motorcycles and destroyed an illegal Petrol bunkering barge,” he said. .
