The Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto, on Thursday, upheld the death sentence earlier delivered by the state High Court on Muhammad Musa and Halilu Mamman of Gungumama village of Illlela Local Government Area of the state.

They had appealed against the judgment passed by the State High Court, Sokoto in a case of the murder of one Musa Shehu on the 28th January 2009.

The court found the two convicts guilty of taking the deceased to the bush, tying him with rope and beating him with cable wire to death.

In a unanimous judgement in Sokoto, the three justices, Tunde Oyetoye, Tijjani Abdullahi and James Abereyiye delivered their judgment in line with section 97 of the penal code.

They are to die by hanging, the court held.
