Court remands police officer in prison for allegedly stabbing man to death in Port Harcourt

A Chief Magistrate court in Port Harcourt has ordered that Festus Edisa be remanded in prison custody.

Festus Edisa, a 28 year old police officer is accused of stabbing, Ibrahim Mojeed to death with a sharp knife at Rumuokoro Round About last month.

Trial magistrate, Ipabilo Iyabo, said the case is beyond the magistrate court and thereby ordered that the matter be transfered to the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.

He also said the accused, Edisa could apply for bail only at the High court.

The matter was adjourned till June 26, 2014 for mention.
