Court remands nine youths for jumping fence to watch Chelsea match

Nine youths who pleaded guilty to allegedly jumping the fence of the Oceanography School, Victoria Island, Lagos, to watch a football match, were on Thursday remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons.

The accused are: Olatobi Alex, 21; Segun Akinowo, 21; Timilehin Joseph, 31; Patrick Ajimoh, 29; Sunday Odukoya, 19; Ajayi Taiye, 20; Martin Igbekele, 23; Lucky Emmanuel, 28, and David Okon, 24.

They are facing one-count charge of breach of peace and jumping the fence.

The Prosecutor, SP. Austin Orji, said that the offence was committed on Tuesday, April 8, at about 10.49 p.m., at the School of Oceanography, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He explained to the court that the accused jumped into the compound of the school through the fence to watch the Chelsea/PSG match.

Orji said that the police was invited to apprehend the intruders, who entered into the compound illegally.

The accused persons, however, pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against them.

The Magistrate, Mrs Salama Matepo, adjourned the case till April 11, for facts and sentencing. (NAN)
