Court remands musician in prison for allegedly raping minor

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday remanded a 27-year-old musician, Friday Freedom, for allegedly raping a 15- year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded the accused in Kirikiri Prisons and adjourned the case till Nov. 28 for ruling on bail condition.

The accused, who lives at 16, Kilani St., Papa Ashafa Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge of rape.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the offence was committed on Nov. 21 at the accused residence.

According to the prosecutor, the accused invited the girl to his house and raped her.

“The girl is presently on admission at one of the General Hospitals as a result of the injury she sustained,” he said.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. (NAN)
