An Evbuoriaria Magistrates’ Court in Benin on Thursday ordered one Grace Ighodalo, 40, and her daughter, Nancy Ighodalo, to be remanded in prison custody for allegedly assaulting one Maria Agbonmwanleten. The Prosecutor, ASP Aigbedion Obakpolor, told the Court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 26, at No. 66, along Upper Sokponba Road in Benin.
Obakpolor added that the two accused assaulted the victim with wood, knife and slapped her on her face leaving her left eye ball red after tearing her black blouse, valued at N3,000.
The two accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge bothering on conspiracy and assault.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 516, 351, 451 and 355 of the Criminal Code.
The Chief Magistrate, Frank Idiake, who remanded both accused in prisons custody, said that their bail application would be considered in due course.
Idiake adjourned the case to Jan. 21, 2016, for hearing.
