Court remands man in prison for alleged rape, murder of 13-year-old girl

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of one Iboi Sunday, 25, in prison custody for allegedly raping and strangling a 13-year-old girl to death.

Chief Magistrate Olanike Adegoke gave the order pending the outcome of the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

She adjourned the case to Dec.13 for further hearing.

Prosecutor Sunday Onwuchekwa had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct.29, 2013 at Oshodi farm, Eyio -Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti.

Onwuchekwa said the accused unlawfully defiled the 13-yr-old girl and strangled her to death during the incident.

He said the offence contravened Section 218 of the Criminal Code and the accused had been duplicated and sent same to the office of the DPP for legal advice.

No plea was taken. (NAN)
