A chief Magistrate court in Port Harcourt has remanded a 56 year-old man for allegedly impersonating a lawyer at the Port Harcourt High Court in September this year.

The accused identified as Pastor Doctor Alpha Judge, who is facing a 3-count charge of impersonation, allegedly appeared before a High Court in Port Harcourt to defend an accused person before luck ran out on him.

When the matter came up in the Court, Judge pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Thereafter, the Chief Magistrate, BMF Jamabo referred the matter to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice.

The matter was adjourned to December 10, 2015 for mention.

Lawyer to the Port Harcourt Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Angus Chukwuka told newsmen that the NBA had set up a committee to fish-out all fake lawyers in the state for possible prosecution.

“You see, the law must be followed. The man has been arrested and he appeared in the court. He pleaded not guilty to the charges as expected. The good thing is that the matter is already in court and the law must take its course. After this matter, this will serve as a deterrent to other quack lawyers parading themselves in this state,” Angus said.
