Court remands 80-year-old security man for alleged rape

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a security guard, Shuibu Mohammed, in prison custody pending legal advice from the state Ministry of Justice.

Mohammed, 80, was arraigned for raping 11-year-old girl hawking cooked groundnuts.

The Magistrate, Mr Bashir Shittu, adjourned the case till June 25. Prosecutor Sanni Umar told the court that the victim’s father, Malam Danjuma Isah, who resides

in Ugwan Rimi, Kaduna State, reported the matter on Jan. 10. Umar said Isah told the police that Mohammed allegedly lured the victim into his apartment under the pretext of buying groundnuts and raped her.

He said the offence contravened Section 282 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
