An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 29-year-old man, Jamiu Yinusa, in prison custody for alleged murder.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 9 at about 11.30 a.m at a construction site in Afe Babalola University campus, Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the accused on the said date unlawfully caused the death of 35-year-old Olawale Sunday by hitting his head with an iron rod.

According to Bamikole, the offence contravened Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap `C’ 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

He said that the case file had been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The court did not take the plea of the accused.

However, his counsel, Mr Femi Familusi, asked the court for adjournment, pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice.

Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade, in her ruling, remanded the accused in prison custody, pending advice from the DPP.

She adjourned the case to March 24 for further hearing. (NAN)
