Kuje Magistrates’ Court, FCT, on Tuesday ordered a 32-year-old mechanic, Johnson Ohis, to cut grass for seven days for causing mischief.

The presiding judge, Mr Okeagwu Azubike, passed the sentence after the convict pleaded guilty to the offences of criminal trespass and mischief, and begged the court for leniency.

Azubike gave the convict an option to pay N2, 000 in fine and ordered him to pay N15, 400 in compensation to the nominal complainant for destroying her television set.

The police prosecutor, Cpl. Samuel Ocheche, told the court earlier that Mrs Hauwa Hassan of Anguwan Gade, Kuje, reported the matter at Kuje Police Station on Oct. 20.

Ocheche said the convict, who resides at the same address as the complainant, entered her room and destroyed her television set valued at N15, 400.

He said that during police interrogation, Ohis admitted to committing the offences. (NAN)
