Benue: Police arraign eight suspects for alleged killing of commuters during protest

The Benue State Police Command has arraigned eight suspects before a magistrate’s court in connection with the recent killing of commuters in the state.

The suspects were accused of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy.

DAILY Post reports that some youths from Benue community recently went on rampange after suspected Fulani herdsmen killed one of its citizens.

The irate youths blocked the Otukpo-Makurdi road in protest and in the process killed six passengers.

The incident occurred in Tse Igba Uke and Aliade villages in Gwer Local Government Area of the state.

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP. Moses Yamu, who confirmed the development, said that the suspects would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.

He said the accused were remanded in Makurdi prisons and the case adjourned till May 17, 2017.
