Baby factory: Enugu police arrests four suspects

The Police in Enugu State have arrested four persons over their alleged involvement in buying and selling of babies to desperate couples.

The spokesman of the police in the state, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu told DailyPost that “three ladies, who gave their names as one Ezechi Esther Ijeoma (the leader of the syndicate, from Akabo village in Ikeduru Imo State but lives at Aforoghe Ezeagu Enugu), Okafor Beatrice of Awha Imezi in Ezeagu Enugu State and Odenigbo Theresa of Oyofo Ezeagu, were nabbed by the operatives of Ezeagu Division of the Nigeria Police Enugu State over their involvement in the trafficking and selling of a five year old success Godwin.

“The baby was stolen by Ijeoma from yet to be identified owner at Egbeda Lagos State on 13/3/14 in connivance with a yet to be identified member of the syndicate.

“The baby was scheduled to be sold at the rate of five hundred thousand naira to a prospective buyer yet to be nabbed”.

He added that on a similar development, “Okechukwu Michael, who was stolen from Ichieahamba village Umuikea in Abia State on 5/3/14, was recovered from one Okafor Beatrice”.

He stated that “the price tag for okechukwu Michael was pegged at six hundred thousand naira.

“A full scale investigation has commenced into the incident, as the suspects are already helping the operatives in their investigations, just as the two recovered boys are hale and hearty”.
