Armed robbers stormed a major cold fish depot located along Zaria Road, off Lagos Street within the Kaduna metropolis on Saturday, killing two security guards during the operation.
Sources revealed that the robbers, who arrived the depot in a Golf Car, headed straight to the entrance of the fish depot and shot into the air sporadically.
A private security man attached to the depot was the first casualty as he was gunned down by the robbers, while he attempted to lock the entrance gate. It was gathered that the same fate befell the second security man who was said to be making frantic effort with his handset to make a distress call, probably to the police.
The source said he was also gunned down by the robbers and he died later in an undisclosed private hospital.
Having cleared all the hurdles, the robbers carted away unspecified huge amount of money and zoomed off from the scene, heading towards the Kaduna west axis of the metropolis.
Men of the Kaduna State security outfit, Operation Yaki, who arrived at the scene after the operation, which lasted for about 30 minutes, pursued the hoodlums, but were reportedly unsuccessful as at the time of filing the report.
The incident was said to have caused Boko Haram scare in the area as most residents locked up their houses mistaking the robbers for members of the dreaded sect.
