Kidnapping seems to have become another lucrative crime for both the young and old criminals at the moment.
Yesterday, One Mr. Adeolu Ojetade, 45, was arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for kidnapping a 55-year-old man, Samuel Fatokun, and also assaulting four others at Akala village, Osun State. He was made to face an eight count- charge bordering on conspiracy, assault and kidnapping. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Giving sketchy details of the incident, the Police Prosecutor, Fagboyinbo Abiodun, maintained that the accused and other members of his gang now at large unleashed terror on their victim, Fatokun, by bundling him into a vehicle to an unknown destination where he was allegedly beaten blue and black. He also stressed that the dare-devil gangs while trying to perfect their crime inflicted injuries on four other persons identified as Alobi Karorudeen, Adeosun Babatunde, Oladapo Fabunmi and Dairo Morakinyo through beating.
Consequently, the juror ordered that Ojetade should be remanded at Ile-ife prison custody, as his counsel’s oral application for his bail was turned down. The suit was therefore adjourned to 27th November, 2012 for further hearing.
