45 rape suspects arrested in Ondo

As rape cases continue to rise across the Country,the Ondo State Police Command said it recorded 45 rape cases in 2013.

The Command said that the suspected rapists have since been arrested and charged to court for prosecution.

The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Patrick Dokumor disclosed this while briefing reporters on the Command’s last year’s activities, affirming that all the suspects apprehended in the state have been charged to court.

Dokumor, said residents of the state had witnessed a peaceful year in 2013, adding that 105 suspected armed robbers were arrested by his officers in the previous year.

He noted that the state witnessed some cases abduction; however, the perpetrators are presently being prosecuted at the law court.

The Police Commissioner attributed the Commans’s success to policing strategies he initiated since he was posted to the state.

His words, “The Command evolved, inter-alia the following policing strategies which include visibility policing, Intensive Patrol, Prompt response to distress calls, Intelligence Networking, Integrated synergy with sister security agencies most especially in the area of intelligence sharing, a robust symbiotic relationship with members of public, cooperate bodies and organisations”.

On whether the Police has arrested the armed bandits that killed a Divisional Crime Officer, [DCO], Iheme Wilfred in Ijare, Ifedore local government, Dokumor said the police was still trailing the suspects.

He said, “the late officer only had three years left before his retirement from the Police.

” We are still working on how to trail the killer. Let me tell you that nobody kills a police officer and goes freely with that.

We are working on the available information in our disposal and we believe that very soon, we will track them”. The Commissioner said.
