37-year-old man arrested with firearms in Jigawa

The Jigawa Police Command has arrested one Ema Gwadal, a 37-year-old man with firearms at Babaldu village in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state.

While parading Gwadal alongside some suspects before newsmen on Tuesday in Dutse, the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr Usman Tilli, said officers and men of the command on routine patron caught the suspect in Babaldu after a thorough search of the bus and discovered some firearms in the vehicle.

“Gwadal was caught in a J5 bus with two locally made pistols and ten rounds of live ammunition,” Tilli said.

“When the policemen started searching the vehicle, the suspect took to his heels, but he was immediately arrested.

“From our investigations, the arms were produced by one Dembo of Amper town in Kanke and were to be delivered to one Sylvester Gofwen, who resides in Tege village of Kafin-Hausa.

“The police has already arrested Sylvester, who was to take delivery of the firearms,” the CP said, noting that Gwadal confessed that he was coming from Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau and heading to Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa before he was intercepted by the police.

Tilli said that all the suspects would soon be charged to court. .
