35-year-old Jimoh Ismaila was on Wednesday sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Magistrate court sitting in Ado Ekiti for stealing a goat.
DailyPost gathered that the convict had committed the offence on February 5, 2012 at Bakare Avenue, off Federal Housing Road in Ado-Ekiti.
Speaking at the court, Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Bamikole Olasunkanmi told the court that Jimoh stole the goat valued at N10,000 and that the goat was later recovered from him.
Olasunkanmi said the offence contravened section 383 and was punishable under section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 30 Vol.11 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria.
Jimoh however pleaded guilty as charged.
Counsel to the convict, Mr Raji Agaje, however prayed the court to have mercy on the convict, since he had pleaded guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Simeon Ojo, consequently, sentenced Jimoh to six months imprisonment with hard labour or an option of N10,000 fine which must be compulsorily paid to the court within a stipulated period of time.
