34-year-old man in court for alleged sodomy

The police on Tuesday arraigned one Jamilu Kasimu, 34, before an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court at Iyaganku, for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a fellow male.

Kasimu was arraigned on a one-count charge of having carnal knowledge of a male.

The prosecutor, Insp. Aliu Samad, said Kasimu used a two-inch silver ring to hit his victim, Bello Abubakar, 19, before having indecent carnal knowledge of him through the anus.

He told the court that the accused committed the offence in March, at Iroko village, via Moniya, Ibadan.

Samad said that the offence contravened Section 217 of the Criminal Code Cap. 38, Vol. 11 Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olaide Hamzat, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Hamzat said that one of the sureties must be a civil servant on Grade Level 10, and adjourned the case till April 3, for hearing. (NAN)
