A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded one Dauda Ladan, 27, in prison custody for alleged conspiracy and armed robbery.
The accused, who lives at No. 7 Benue Crescent, Wadata, Makurdi, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The plea of the accused was not taken for lack of jurisdiction.
The magistrate, Mrs Theresa Wergba, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody, pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the matter to Oct. 21. The prosecutor, Insp. Imo Edward, had told the court that the case was reported at the ‘B’ Division Police Station, Makurdi, by one Musa Abubakar of Vigilante Group Progressive Unit, Wadata.
He said the complainant reported the matter in company of one Alex John of No. 9, Adikpo Street, behind Saint Gabriel Secondary School, Wadata.
The prosecutor alleged that the accused person with three others now at large conspired and broke into Alex John’s house.
He said the accused robbed John and two other occupants at gunpoint.
Edward said the offences contravened Sections 6(b) and 1(2)a and (b) of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The prosecutor said investigation was still ongoing and asked the court for an adjournment. (NAN)
