20 poachers arrested at Jos Wildlife Park

Over 20 persons suspected to be poachers have been arrested and remanded in Police custody for breaking into the Jos Wildlife Park late on Wednesday night, apparently to steal or kill some of the animals.

DailyPost investigation revealed that the suspected poachers were arrested by the security operatives at the park with the joint efforts of youth in the communityam

A source told DailyPost that the incident has become a recurring decimal as the incident occurs almost every time, yet the perpetrators would always escape unharmed.

Meanwhile the State Commissioner of Tourism, Mr. Sylvanus Dontur, when contacted confirmed the incidence, but said he was yet to ascertain the number of poachers arrested.

The Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Felicia Anselem said those arrested were not poachers but illegal miners, adding that the arrested persons have been charged to court.
