A 20 and 21 years old , Abdulahi Salami and Idris Hamed have been summoned before the Ojokoro magistrate’s court in Lagos after being caught peeping through the window of a couple while engaging in a sex.
The two have been arraigned and charged for criminal offence of peeping through their neighbour’s window, Mr. Taiwo Bankole. Who resides at 29, Arubiewu Street, Ojokoro, Lagos State- Nigeria Abdulahi had admitted that they were actually peeping through the window of the couple who left their light on during sex and not peeping with the intention of stealing as purportedly held against them.
The couple had said that they were not aware that the defendants were busy watching them through their window, however, they were arrested. Bankole who reported the said incident to the police station had claimed that the culprits were peeping with the intention to steal. However, on appearing at the police station, the two had denied that they were criminals.
Rather they admitted peeping at the couple for their own sexual satisfaction. Police had confirmed that the offence is punishable under Sections 509 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 vol. 2 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003. Indicating the two, the charge read thus; “that you Abdulahi Salami and Idris Hamed, at the same date, time and place did attempt to look into somebody’s room through the window to steal.”
They however pleaded not guilty. They were granted bail by the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.F. Adeeyo. With the sum of N50,000 each. The matter has since been adjourned to 20 January, 2012 for further hearing of the case.
