A 19-year-old student, Oluwaseyifunmi Jolaosho, was on Monday sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Ogun state for stealing a blackberry phone valued at N50,000.

The Prosecutor, Insp Augustine Ozimini, told the court that the accused with no fixed address had committed the offence on May 11 at number 6, Balogun Street, Ore-Meji, Oluwo, Onikolobo in Abeokuta.

He said that when Jolaosho was apprehended, the stolen cell phone was found in his possession.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006.

Jolaosho however pleaded guilty to the one count charge of stealing and pleaded for leniency.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olayinka Idowu, sentenced Jolaosho to two years imprisonment with an option of N10,000 fine payable after three months.
