Fourteen persons were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court over alleged terrorism.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Bankole Olasunkanmi told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Dec.12 at Bisi market in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that one David Reuben and others still at large on the said date, unlawfully participated in act of terrorism against against Ekiti State Traffic management Agency (EKSTMA) officials.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 11(e) of Ekiti State Kidnap and Terrorism (Prohibition) Law, 2015.
He sought for an adjournment to duplicate the case file and send to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The plea of the accused was not taken due to the nature of the case.
Consequently, their counsel, Mr Segun Akinwumi prayed for his bail in liberal terms.
Chief Magistrate, Idowu Ayenimo consequently said that the counsel should file a formal bail application and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending the advice from DPP.
He adjourned the case to Jan.11 for further hearing.
