About 12 suspected kidnappers believed to have been the brains behind incessant cases of abductions in Bayelsa state have been apprehended by men of the police force.
DailyPost gathered one of the suspects described as a dreaded kidnap kingpin was arrested in his hideout at Lotugbene community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity due to fear of victimisation, the suspect along with his gang had been terrorising the community since the Federal Government declared amnesty for repentant militants.
DailyPost gathered from the source that operatives of the Criminal Investigations Department, CID arrested the suspect who was identified as Humphrey Fazia after laying siege at his hideout.
He said, “He has been causing a lot of havoc in the community with guns and ammunition in his possession. His arrest is a big relief to members of the community. The state police should arraign him to make him pay for his sins.”
It was, however, gathered that other suspects were arrested by the police at different communities and hideouts in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Kingsley Omire said that more than 10 deadly kidnap and murder suspects were arrested by the police within the past two months in the state.
