No fewer than 115 local street gang members called “Yan Sara-Suka” have been arraigned by the Kaduna State Police Command, for allegedly terrorising communities across the state.
The State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Zubairu Abubakar made this disclosure on Monday.
Abubakar disclosed that the gang members were arrested after massive clampdown on their hideouts in the state.
The arraignment was coming at the backdrop of the State Governor, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufa’s directive to the police to flush the State of the terror gangs that had killed and maimed people across the State.
According to the police spokesperson, 38 of those arraigned before various courts across the state were standing trial for criminal conspiracy and terrorism, 32 for possession of hard drugs while 45 are for terrorism and culpable homicide.
Abubakar stressed that the suspects were arrested with the help of communities, especially in areas such as Rigasa.
He added that special patrols would continue in areas earmarked for criminal activities across the state.
“Kaduna is now very calm, and we need the cooperation of the general public to make the state safer for all.
“The police will not allow any miscreant to cause unrest in the society. Such person will be arrested and prosecuted instantly,” he affirmed.
He called on the public to be law abiding citizens of the State, while adding that they should continue to assist the police and other law enforcement agents in carrying out their constitutional duties.
