Zidane leaves Ronaldo out of Real Madrid’s squad for International Champions Cup

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has left out Cristino Ronaldo from his squad for the International Champions Cup in the US.

Ronaldo featured at this year’s Confederations Cup in Russia, but left before Portugal’s third-place play-off match to be with his newborn twins, having helped Madrid to La Liga and Champions League glory.

Zidane’s men who open their ICC campaign against Manchester United on July 23, will however have Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Isco, Marcelo and new signing Theo Hernandez. Alvaro Morata has also made the trip.

Fellow ICC participants, Barcelona will however have Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Messi, who finally signed a contract extension to stay at the Nou Camp, headlines Ernesto Valverde’s first Barca squad.

The team also features Javier Mascherano, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique, Ivan Rakitic and Arda Turan.

However, first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is not involved, after helping Germany win the Confederations Cup.

Barca open their ICC campaign against Juventus in New Jersey on July 22.

Real and Barca will face each other in an International Champions Cup Clasico in Miami on July 29.
