Zamfara violence: Gov. Yari speaks on protests against him, blasts sponsors

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has said that recent protests by the youths in Abuja, Kaduna and London could not be unconnected with the sheer overzealous desire of Zamfara politicians to hijack power without due process.

A press statement issued and signed by his press secretary, Hon. Magaji Dosara, claimed that Zamfara state citizens did not paticipate in the protests, saying that power-drunk politicians in the state hired none Zamfara citizens to satisfy their selfish ambition.

The governor stressed that those who agreed to be paid for the unholy protests have no idea of the security situation in the state, stressing that the desperate politicians just wanted to make him a scapegoat in the process.

He maintained that the people used in the protests didn’t understand how much of the state resources his government and the federal government have committed to resolving the security challenges in the northwest state.

“I am not in any way saying that the Protestants have done anything wrong by making their grievances known to the public because it is their constitutional rights,” he said.

Continuing, the Governor noted that no responsible government would fold its hands while terror attacks continue to ravage the state without finding any lasting solution to the problem.

He stressed that taken the protests to London in the United Kingdom was to tarnish the reputation of the whole country before the whole world.

Governor Yari called on the power-drunk politicians to “wait for their appointed time rather than moving faster than their shadows”, saying that their scheming “was never how Allah designed this universe to function”.
