Zamfara: Supreme Court rules in request to review judgment against APC

The Supreme Court has rejected a request for it to review its last judgment in which it voided the participation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the last elections in Zamfara State.

A five-man panel of the court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, in a ruling Monday morning, struck out an application marked: SC/377/2019 filed by the APC, seeking a review of the judgement.

The court rejected effort by the lawyer to the APC, Robert Clarke (SAN), to make it take a second look at the decision given earlier this year.

The Supreme Court had in May nullified all APC votes at the 2019 general elections in Zamfara State and ruled that the party had no candidates.

The five-member panel of justices, in a unanimous judgement, held that the party failed to conduct primary elections in accordance with the party’s rules.

The judgement declared that the political party that scored the second highest number of votes other than the APC in the elections should be declared winner of the polls.
