Zamfara police signs pact with vigilante, Yansake groups

Zamfara State police command on Thursday held meeting with the state vigilante, Yansake groups where they signed a pact to work harmoniously together with full force to fight armed bandits and notorious kidnappers with seriousness in the state.

Addressing members of the vigilante and Yansake groups at the state Secretariat in Gusau, the state capital, the commissioner of police, Mr.Sani Babba Nagogo noted that all the security operatives would continue to hold a joint and constant meeting to address some fundamental issues with serious approaches.

In reaction, the Yansake leaders maintained that they have already submitted over 9,000 arms and ammunition while the armed bandits are yet to submit anyone even though the commissioner of police said that they have started negotiation processes with the armed bandits and kidnappers to submit their guns and ammunition.

“We hope that we are very close to having peace accord with the armed bandits and notorious kidnappers in the state, “the commissioner noted.

Commissioner Nagogo appealed to both groups to assist the police and cooperate with all the security operatives in the state to achieve a lasting solution against security challenges in the state.

In its own submission, the state vigilante group leader, Alhaji Nafiu Bashir Nadi stressed that his group always arrest some of the armed bandits and kidnappers and handed them over to police only to hear later that they have been released by the police.

However, the group assured that they would continue to cooperate with other security agencies in the state.

In response to the statement against the police, the commissioner assured that he would address the shortcomings of the police in the state.
